CARING FOR YOUR PEARL
Welcome to the Pearl Promises Help Center.
This will be your How-To Guide: from harvesting your Pearl, to making sure your Pearl stays lustrous and timeless.
NOT FOR CONSUMPTION
IMPORTANT:
1. The oyster is preserved in a special liquid. The liquid is part alcohol and is NOT FOR CONSUMPTION.
2. The opened oyster is NOT FOR CONSUMPTION.
Cultured Pearl Oysters are of a different breed and CANNOT BE EATEN.
Pearl Promises will not be liable for any injuries, accidents or medical conditions if preservation liquid or Oysters have been consumed or ingested.
HOW DO I OPEN MY OYSTER
You would have received your Oyster in a vacuum pack. Drain out liquid (if any) before you proceed to the following steps:
1. Open the packet and set the Oyster (flat side down) out on a stable table top, on a soft towel or a kitchen towel.
2. Using a dull knife, insert the knife into the Oyster mouth (curved side up) with a downward motion.
3. Slide the knife left to right, stopping near the base (flat side) of the Oyster.
4. Twist the knife 90 degrees, so it is perpendicular to the table top. You should hear a slight crack.
5. Leave the knife there, and open the Oyster from the opening with your fingers. The Oyster should pop open fairly easily.
6. Locate your Pearl in the flesh of the Oyster, and slowly remove the Pearl from its Pearl sac.

Congratulations! You have successfully harvested your Pearl.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I HARVEST MY PEARL
After removing the Pearl from its Pearl sac:
1. Rinse your Pearl in a bowl of clean distilled or mineral water.
(Avoid long exposure to water, in general, even while cleaning.)
2. Clean your Pearl with a dry soft cloth.
3. Let your Pearl sit to dry in a tray of table salt.
4. Clean the Pearl with a dry soft cloth again.

Your Pearl is now ready to be kept or worn in your Pearl Charm!
WHAT TO DO BEFORE I WEAR MY PEARL
Keep your Pearls in top condition by limiting their exposure to acids and other chemicals i.e. perfumes, cosmetics and any hair/body products.
1. Make sure your Pearl is securely fastened in your Pearl Charm.
2. Dress up, style your hair, apply your make-up, and spray on your perfume before you put on any Pearl jewelry.
3. Put on your Pearl Charm(s).

You are now good to go!

Ps: Remember, when you put your Pearl Charms on, wear them after you're done with everything. When you're taking everything off, take your Pearl Charms off first.
WHAT TO TAKE NOTE OF
1. Never wear your Pearl Charms when you anticipate working with your hands, and limit them to special occasions. Refrain from activities like playing sports or grooming your pet, and do take them off immediately.
2. A Pearl's lustre can be damaged by even the smallest amount of perspiration. Cleaning your Pearls after each use helps preserve their lustre.Â
3. It is not advisable to step into the shower with your Pearl Charms, as the chemicals from your body products might damage your Pearl.Â
4. Avoid direct sunlight or high temperatures such as in a sauna or onsen spa.
5. If Pearls come into contact with substances such as vinegar, fruit juices, hair spray, perfumes or detergents, immediately wipe clean with a soft cloth.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY PEARL
You should only clean Pearls with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or brushes that could damage and/or scratch the Pearl’s surface.
1. Pour mineral water or distilled water into a small bowl to clean your Pearls.
(Avoid long exposure to water, in general, even while cleaning.)
2. Clean with a dry soft cloth.

Or, alternatively, you could dab a small drop of water to clean Your Pearl with a soft cloth.
Be gentle!
WHERE SHOULD I STORE MY PEARL
Pearls may be scratched by contact with sharp objects or other gemstones.
1. Fasten clasps and pins upon storage, then lay each item out separately in a compartmentalized jewelry box.
2. Use a small velvet pouch to keep your Pearl. Also do this when carrying your Pearl out on the go with you.
(NEVER store your Pearls in a plastic bag. The plastic may emit a chemical, that over time, may cause Pearls to deteriorate.)
3. Avoid long-term exposure to strong light or heat above 60°C. These elements can dry out your Pearls, causing them to crack.
